A network of beautifully carved stone sculptures, Elephanta Caves, located on Elephanta Islands; lie in the lap of vast Arabian Sea. Attractions of Elephanta Caves
Main Cave
The Elephanta caves consist of two groups of caves, a large group of Hindu caves and a smaller group of Buddhist caves. The main cave, belonging to the larger group of Hindu caves, consists of exquisitely carved stone sculptures dedicated to Lord Shiva. The central shrine is well ornamented with enchanting carvings. The stunning carvings of Shiva and Parvati are surely the centre of attraction.
East and West Wing Shrine
The stone carvings of these wings are devoted to the religious dimensions of Hindu culture, which succeeds in giving a glimpse of the ancient culture. They leave the visitors awestruck with the amazing carvings on the walls.
Other major caves
The Sitabai cave, dedicated to Parvati, is another beautiful cave. Other places like a Portico near Main cave, a small excavation near Sitabai and several other significant caves are worth a visit.
Shopping
The small stalls outside the caves decorated with charming items like statues, wired necklace and stunning metal items are worth buying.
How to Reach
In order to reach Elephanta caves, one has to reach Mumbai first. It is well connected by air, rail and road. After reaching Mumbai, head to the Gateway of India, famous landmark of India, to get a ferry to the caves.

Generally all are good except that in shimla. Silverine hotel is not a suitable hotel for elderly people as they need to walk up and downhill to the hotel….though the place is ideal for shoppers -
