Andaman Island

A visit to the bedazzled land of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is like stepping into a fairyland where wonders await you! Andaman and Nicobar Islands is the Union Territory of India and comprises of around 300 islands but only around 12 are open to tourists. Port Blair is the largest town and the headquarters of Andaman Islands. This wonderful archipelago of islands, islets and rocks is also an abode of some of the oldest tribes in India. Attractions of Andaman

Havelock Island
It is the largest Island of Andaman named after a British General Henry Havelock who served in India. It is very popular among honeymooners and adventure lovers as it has several wonderful resorts and offers great snorkeling opportunities. For many tourists Havelock is the Andamans.

Radhanagar Beach
It is the most famous beach of Andamans located on the western coast of the Havelock Islands. Its glistening blue waters are free of any wave action and there are many activities you can enjoy here such as boating, fishing, diving and snorkeling. It’s a romantic destination where watching sunset is a sight to behold.

Samudrika Marine Museum
Located in Port Blair, this museum is run by the Indian Navy. It displays a wide range of exhibits providing knowledge about Andaman’s flora and fauna, marine life, tribes, ecosystem, animals and much more.

Cellular Jail
Located in Port Blair, Cellular Jail is also known as Kaala Paani (black waters). It was built in 1906 and was used by the British to exile political prisoners to the remote archipelago. The great freedom fighters such as Batukeshwar Dutt and Veer Savarkar were kept here during the struggle for India’s independence. Now the jail serves as the national memorial monument.

Limestone Caves
This natural wonder of stalactites and stalagmites is located on the Baratang Island.

Adventure sports
Let yourself lose in the adventure activities on Andaman Islands and for sure you will enjoy it to the hilt. You can indulge in snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, windsurfing, boating, island trekking, lagoon cruises etc.

How to Reach
Port Blair is connected to the major cities of India like Kolkata, Chennai and Delhi by regular flights. Ship service is also available to Port Blair from Kolkata, Chennai and Visakhapatnam and back. There are three to four sailings every month.
